Candle Care & Safety
Candle Care & Safety
At The Flannel Bear, we want you to enjoy every candle safely and beautifully. Following a few simple care steps will help your candle burn cleaner, last longer, and perform at its best.
Before Your First Burn
- Place your candle on a stable, heat-safe surface.
- Keep the candle away from drafts, fans, vents, curtains, and anything flammable.
- Trim the wick to 1/4 inch before lighting.
- Allow the wax to melt evenly across the top on the first burn to help prevent tunneling.
During Each Burn
- Trim the wick to 1/4 inch before each burn.
- Burn your candle long enough for the wax pool to reach the edges of the container whenever possible.
- Do not burn a candle for more than 4 hours at a time.
- Keep the wax pool free of wick trimmings, matches, and debris.
- Never move a candle while it is burning or while the wax is hot.
For Best Performance
- Always extinguish your candle carefully to avoid splattering wax.
- Allow the candle to cool completely before relighting.
- Store candles in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat.
- Use a candle snuffer or wick dipper if desired for a cleaner extinguish.
When to Stop Burning
- Stop use when about 1/2 inch of wax remains at the bottom of the container.
- Do not allow the flame to burn all the way down, as the container may become too hot.
Candle Safety Tips
- Never leave a burning candle unattended.
- Keep out of reach of children and pets.
- Never burn a candle near anything that can catch fire.
- Do not touch or move the candle until it has cooled.
- Do not burn candles on or near uneven or unstable surfaces.
A Note About Natural Wax
Because our candles are hand-poured in small batches using soy wax, slight variations in texture, color, or surface appearance may occur. These natural variations do not affect the quality or performance of your candle.
