The Tacoma Astronomical Society (TAS) hosts free public astronomy events at Pierce College’s Fort Steilacoom campus. These events offer an opportunity for visitors of all ages to learn about astronomy, explore the wonders of the universe, and experience the night sky.

Public Nights feature indoor presentations, demonstrations, and workshops, regardless of weather conditions. When skies are clear, TAS volunteers provide telescope observations of the Moon, planets, star clusters, nebulae, galaxies, double stars, and other celestial objects. Each season brings new astronomical sights and discoveries for both first-time visitors and returning guests.

Admission to all public programs and observing sessions is free. Donations are welcome and help support the Society’s public education and astronomy outreach programs.
