FINALIST Best Suspense / Thriller Novel of 2023 Chanticleer International Book Awards (CIBA) for Sniper’s Day

BookLife Review
(In Sniper’s Day, Dave Lager’s) examination of (Wade) Meese’s character and trajectory is extraordinary…Lager’s voice is strong and genre appropriate…he writes at a clipped pace, effectively building intrigue and tension throughout. (Ro) Delahanty and Meese are engaging characters, with the latter effectively chilling. 9 points out of 10.

Secrets Never End is a captivating and action-packed crime novel. I could not read this page-turner fast enough… The characters were authentic and relatable. Ro was not your standard policewoman, which was interesting and refreshing. The story is a well-written and enjoyable.

I found Secrets Never End striking from the start, drawing readers into Ro Delahanty’s gritty world of crime and intrigue. Ro is compelling and relatable, with her tenacity and resilience as she battles the odds to seek justice for her brother. (She) narrate(s) exposition and revelations naturally, so that we put the clues together with her, watching the consequences unfold from her shoulder. Dave Lager’s careful pacing of the plot create(s) a sense of urgency that propels the story forward. Secrets Never End is a thrilling addition to the Ro Delahanty series.

Secrets Never End is full of heart-pounding, edge-of-your-seat action that will keep you reading long into the night – you won’t want to put it down in case you miss something! The characters are well-developed, likable, relatable people you feel you could really get to know. This is compelling reading, descriptive in a way that draws you in, and while it is a serious crime thriller, it also has a fun, adventurous element. I look forward to what’s coming next.

Sniper’s Day is an edge-of-your-seat thriller you will struggle to put down… Action-packed and filled with suspense and intrigue, Dave Lager delivers a spectacular military-action story… (T)he plot moves briskly… (Wade) Meese is a riveting antagonist…an introverted veteran struggling to adjust to civilian life, and Lager captures his essence perfectly. I thoroughly enjoyed it and will gladly recommend it.

Ro’s Handle is the first installment in the Ro Delahanty adventure series. This book was fun and action-packed. The plot and storyline laid a captivating foundation for the subsequent sequels. I love heroines, especially ones who conquer on their feet. Ro’s ability to compartmentalize, think rationally, and get the job done made her almost invulnerable.

I got caught up in Losses from page one…the action went on and on. There are several different stories going on, making Losses more exciting as each new turn takes the reader somewhere surprising. Ro is not your standard ‘policewoman / female detective’ character (it) allowed for a much stronger storyline than the usual female cop mystery.
(Losses) is the best so far, as we watch each character grow and hidden secrets emerge. This is certainly not of the cookie-cutter variety we see so often in the female cop genre. I am eager to see what he unveils for us in his next novel.
(Losses) had me hurting to my core with the loss Ro and her family experience. Each book Mr. Lager writes is even better than the one before.
(Ro’s Handle is) …a fantastic read! The main female character has many challenges as a rookie in a male dominated field… (T)he way her character unfolds, it is near impossible not to identify with her on so many levels as a female reader. I give it 5 STARS!
Just finished Hear Evil. WOW! You outdid yourself! Read it from beginning to end without stopping. I certainly didn’t see the ending coming.
Don’t let all the law stuff keep you from reading this, ladies. Ro’s Handle has just the right amount of spice to keep you anxious for the next book in the series.
You will laugh, and you will be frightened as (Ro) learns what it means to be a cop (in Ro’s Handle). I found myself saying ‘don’t go there Ro!’ quite often. And please, Mr. Lager, make sure we see Peter Panda again.
Lager obviously has a practically exhaustive knowledge of police equipment, organization, and procedure, which gives the work a great deal of authority… The handling of the psychological aspects of the aftermath (of a shootout) struck me as true to life.
After reading the first few pages, I just wanted to read more and more. It was hard to put down because I wanted to know what was going to happen next. I especially liked the timeframe format. I would recommend this one and am looking forward to the next book.
